Have you ever noticed that almost all of women’s deodorants contain antiperspirants? I have a little thing against antiperspirants – they contain all sorts of questionable ingredients. Actually, the active ingredient in antiperspirants is called aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrexgly, a little guy that helps block wetness and odor and also doubles as a NEUROTOXIN.
Of course, there is a lot of inconclusive data on this out there, but I say; why take the risk? This is a product we use everyday!
And to top it all off, antiperspirants are the culprits behind the little yellow stains you get in the underarms on your clothes as well!
So, years ago I decided to start looking into some alternatives and, after many unpleasant experiences, I came across the Thai Crystal Deodorant Stone. I can’t tell you how much I love this thing. First of all, it seems like it lasts forever. I have one for years before I feel the need to replace it, making it a huge moneysaver as well!! And, it does not stain your clothes.
Here’s how it works: after showering, wet the stone and rub it in your underarms. That’s it. It feels like you have absolutely nothing on, but in my experience, it is extremely effective. I should disclose that I live in an arid climate, so that may help, but I also have spent a lot of time in the East Coast and the Midwest in the summer, and I still find it works well. To be completely honest, I only apply it every several days – it seems like over the years I need it less and less.
At the minimum, consider switching up your routine a little bit and giving your skin a break. Maybe you try the stone or a plain deodorant (one that does NOT contain the antiperspirant) on the weekends.
As a bonus, my husband also raves about it! It lasts all day for him, which is something that most deodorants couldn’t do for him in the past.
