Anna Sova Food Paint – Safe Household Paints

Anna Sova Food Paint Zero VOC

As we prep for Earth Day, I had to share one of my favorite companies, Anna Sova.  The home of organic and eco-friendly textiles and Anna Sova Food Paint.

Anna Sova Food Paint is something every parent should know about.  The paint is produced using up to 94% food ingredients and has zero VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds – trust me, those are bad).  They are the perfect solution for painting a nursery, painting anything while pregnant, or for those with asthma or allergies.  If I had my way, your entire house would be painted with zero VOC paint, as well as every other house out there.

Think your color choices will be limited? Think again – Anna Sova offers every color you can imagine and can also make custom tints and bases.

Good news: Use promo code April10 and receive 10% off AND free shipping on any paint order!

I am also the proud owner of Anna Sova 900 GSM Organic Cotton Spa Towels – which happen to be on sale right now. I have to tell you, I bought these towels 3+ years ago and have found them to hold up much better than any other towels I have owned.  They are ultra plush and . . . organic!  If you hurry, they are offering free monogramming through April 1o.

  1. Are the kids going to be licking the paint off the walls??

  2. I’ll have to take a look at those towels…

  3. The kids won’t lick the walls if the paint is dry, but I wouldn’t recommend them hanging out in the room while your painting unattended because you never know when curiosity will get the best of them! :)

  5. Stay away from this paint.

We bought a gallon at Green Depot in Chicago (it cost $80!! What suckers we are.) and painted our bathroom with it nearly three weeks ago. The paint has an incredibly strong odor and it has remained as strong as ever! We’ve tried everything from air purifiers to running the exhaust fan for days and nothing has worked. This is a perfect example of greenwashing. The ‘food’ paint contains fungicide, bactericide, mildew retardant, and preservative. And guess what? I’ve emailed Anna Sova twice to get the names of the -cides they use and they have not gotten back to me. Are they safe? Who knows!

I’ve used traditional milk paints in the past and they have no odor. They are not washable and they do not go on evenly, but they are, in fact, actually plastic-free and ‘green’. Anna Sova paint is HORRIBLE and is not ‘green’ at all when it contains unknown, possibly dangerous, ingredients. Stay away from it, truly!
