Mother’s Day Giveaway – Win an ECOSYSTEM Set!

organizers for moms

Aren’t they just pretty?

Lately, when I have been asked by my husband what I want for Mother’s Day, I have been thinking the same thing over and over: I need to be more organized.

No more taking notes on the nearest scrap of paper while my son is yanking on my pant leg.  Only to lose those vital scraps of paper in 2 minutes flat.  No more jotting down important appointments on the backs of receipts, only to get quickly swept into the trash.  One word: Please.

That is why I was pretty psyched about my new little set of ecosystem books.  They come in 4 types – Artist (blank), Author (lined), Architect (grid), and Advisor (calendar).   You can also choose the color and size.  They current colors they offer are Kiwi, Clementine, Lagoon, Watermelon, and Onyx.  Soon to be added: Grape.  In addition, all ecosystem books are made from 100-percent post-consumer recycled paper using low-impact processes that are environmentally savvy and responsible

But here is what really sold me – each notebook has a unique ID, which you enter on the ecosystem website when you receive your book.  If, per chance, like any mom out there, you get forgetful and lose your book, the finder can go to the website and enter in the code.  A lost and found system!  If only every stuffed animal had that feature!

And here is the fun news – for Mother’s Day, ecosystem is going to give one very lucky reader a set of books!  The set includes the large watermelon 12-month weekly planner, a medium clementine author (lined) and a small kiwi artist (blank).

Here’s how to enter: Just leave a comment below by midnight, May 13th.  If you would like extra entries, each of the following will count as one entry: Like us on Facebook, subscribe to our emails, or tweet this giveaway!

In the meantime, check out the other ecosystem notebooks and like their awesome Facebook page

Happy Mother’s Day!

The Scandle Body Candle & Giveaway!

Body Lotion Candle

I like to try to do something fun on Wednesdays here, since . . . well, it’s Wednesday.   That is why I am thrilled to present you with the Scandle Body Candle!   Woot!

Let me tell you all about it: the Scandle Body Candle is a massage lotion candle.  It begins as a soy candle that melts into body lotion or a massage lotion.  It  is all-natural and vegan.  The candle melts at 2 degrees above body temperature, so it is the perfect temp to go on skin.  It can also  be used for mani/pedis as it is rich with Vitamin E.

Go All-Natural With Your Toothpaste (Giveaway)

Vegan Fluoride Free Toothpaste

After tackling your deodorant and your nail polishes, we are moving on to your toothpaste.  That’s right, I know you love me.

We are right in the middle of the great toothpaste debate in our household.  The question?  Whether or not to use toothpaste while brushing our 2 year old’s teeth.  There is a lot of conflicting research out there on toothpaste for children.  Not only does traditional toothpaste contain a ton of chemicals I usually stay far away from, but they also have some potentially poisonous ingredients.

Enter Dr. Sharp’s fluoride free toothpaste: the only eco-friendly toothpaste developed by a dentist.  Why fluoride free you ask? Well, to put it lightly, this toothpaste does not require an FDA warning label since fluoride has some potential health risks for you and me.  And, they make a fantastic strawberry cream flavored kid’s toothpaste that my son loves!  We can now brush his teeth and not worry about the toothpaste!

Now, your and my dentist may have an issue with fluoride free, so I asked Dr. Sharp for his thoughts on the issue and he pointed out that there is already fluoride in the water and the ingestion of it from the water is already assisting in preventing the tooth decay and therefore do not need the excess in the toothpaste.  Works for me!

Not only do I totally dig the packaging, but this stuff is great.  It is naturally sweetened with stevia, vegan, has sustainable packaging that is printed with soy ink, contains certified organic botanicals, and the adult versions (green tea and fresh mint) even whiten teeth.

Now for the great news!  Dr. Sharp is giving one of you a full family set of the toothpaste (an almost $50 value)!

The set contains:

1 Fresh Mint Whitening Toothpaste

1 Green Tea Whitening Toothpaste

1 Strawberry Cream Kids Toothpaste

1 Fresh Mint Mouthwash

Just leave a comment before midnight, May 6th, to be entered!

Check out the rest of Dr. Sharp’s amazing line of green dental products here.  And, for the Month of May, to celebrate Mother’s Day, they will be running a special on one fresh mint mouthwash and one fresh mint toothpaste for $20.00!

Get Green – Carbon Fund Giveaway!

I’m really psyched about this: CarbonFund.org and Coupon Craze are teaming up to help folks ‘Go Green for Free’ this Earth Day and we get to give away THREE $50 Carbon Fund credits!

Here’s the scoop:

CarbonFund.org is leading the fight against global warming by helping people neutralize their carbon footprint.  You can purchase an offset that represents a reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) somewhere else, like a renewable energy or reforestation project, to balance out the emissions you cannot reduce. For example, $50 of CarbonFund.org credit is equivalent to 5 metric tons of CO2 or:

  • More than 5 roundtrips from Los Angeles to New York
  • Approximately the emissions an average American passenger vehicle emits in a year
  • Over half the emissions from the average American home’s electricity use
  • The amount of carbon sequestered by an acre of pine forests in a year
  • The amount of carbon produced by 208 propane cylinders for home barbecues

To help promote green, organic and eco-friendly retailers and products, Coupon Craze has a Green Coupon Category where shoppers can finds codes and deals from over 100 retailers such as TOMS Shoes, Origins, Patagonia and ZipCar.  Check out some tips from Coupon Craze that will help you go green on a budget:

  • Shop on Earth Day, 4/22: April, and of course Earth Day itself, draws the most attention to eco-friendly, green and organic products. Retailers take advantage of this by offering huge savings throughout the month and specifically on April 22nd to generate awareness. Make sure to check out Coupon Craze’s Green and Eco-Friendly category on Earth Day – there are over 100 offers planned to go live exclusively on that day.
  • There’s Less Fine Print: Green retailers are still relatively new to the coupon industry, so offers tend to have less fine print than coupons in other categories. For example, many of these coupons don’t have a minimum spending requirement, which means that shoppers can save regardless if they spend $20 or $500.
  • What to do the rest of the year: There are some retailers such as TOMS and Gaiam that offer coupons year round; however, the savings in the Green Category tend to peak in the spring and the fall.

Pretty great, right?  Now back to the giveaway – just leave a comment and tell us your favorite cost-effective green living tip before April 22nd at 12 noon EST and the three winners (selected using Random.org) will be announced and contacted on 4/23.

Good luck!

Great Giveaway from Gifted Imaginations!

Magnetic pattern block

If you are in the market for high-quality, eco-friendly toys, you absolutely must check out Gifted Imaginations.  I don’t know if I have found another toy store with such an amazing selection of educational and well-made toys that inspire your little one’s imagination and pretend play.

From their website: “From wooden blocks to puzzles to backpacks, dolls, cars, and games – these are not the kinds of toys you’ll find in your local department store. In addition to these unique finds, Gifted Imaginations also carries eco-friendly and fun children’s clothing such as Life is Good, Green Label and BioMe5.”

I love toys that inspire creativity and that is why I fell in love with the Magnetic Pattern Block Kit by Melissa and Doug.  There are so many reasons why this is a GREAT toy.  Geometric patterns and placement help kids develop necessary skills for future learning – even IQ tests!  The Magnetic Pattern Block Kit also comes in a neat travel case, which makes it perfect for your future travel plans!

SOTSK Climbers Reach the 19,340ft Summit of Kilimanjaro!

I am so happy to announce that the Summit on the Summit Climbers reached the 19,340ft Summit of Kilimanjaro!  Thanks to everyone who supported and participated in the PUR giveaway to raise awareness for clean drinking water.

4,000 children in developing countries die every day from illness and disease related to unsafe drinking water.  PUR along with its not-for-profit partner, CSDW, is committed to alleviating this global crisis by providing clean drinking water to those in need.

Quote from Jessica Biel

“I went on this climb with the intention to bring awareness to the clean drinking water crisis. Meeting the people and community in Tanzania, and seeing firsthand how just one PUR sachet can mean the difference between healthy water and contaminant laden water for an entire village, has been an invaluable and eye-opening experience for me. My hope is that others will be inspired to find ways that they can help; starting simply in their homes and continuing to other parts of the world. We are all in this together.”

Also, congrats to Courtney from CookingUpAFamily.com, our winner of the PUR water pitcher!
